A Community of Faith

St John Fisher is above all a Catholic School with Christ at the centre of all that we do. As a Christian community, we conceive our mission to ensure that all our teaching and learning seeks to establish the reality of Christ and the centrality of His place in our lives today.

We strive to be a true community of faith centered on the teachings, doctrines and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and its mission in education. We work in partnership with our families and parishes, to ensure that all our young people are taught and raised in accordance with our Faith.

Our programmes in RE and PSHE are based on the teachings of the Church and we seek to promote a spiritual dimension across the entire curriculum. Our goal is “to educate for life” in order to prepare our students for their lives as adult Christians in an increasingly secular world.

The school has a strong Catholic ethos, which is evident in all that we do. Our relationships are based on Gospel values, as exemplified in the Beatitudes. Our goals and policies are firmly rooted in the Gospel message of Christian love and each and every member of our community is truly valued and really does matter.

We have a total commitment to support all our students, particularly those who may be vulnerable or most in need.

We also undertake to be a worshiping community, where all can live out and give expression to their Faith, in accordance the rites and doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church. The school promotes spirituality through worship and prayer, centered around the celebration of Holy Mass.

We have our own full-time lay chaplain, who organises a range of liturgies and retreats and we are well supported by our local parish clergy.

Miss McNulty, Head of R.E.

"Catholicism is at the heart of our school. Our education is underpinned by the teachings of Christ and His Gospel Values.

Within the RE Department, we are responsive to pupils with different experiences of faith, and present learning and discussion opportunities for everyone.

Our pupils attend Mass in our beautiful and historic Chapel every week.
