KS3 Aladdin Performance
The KS3 performance of Disney’s Aladdin Jr was a huge success and the cast delivered top quality performances to a sold out audience. It was hugely entertaining and featured a very talented cast, including Lauren Magill as Jasmine, Aidan Greene as Aladdin and Rory Kelly as the Genie. Lauren is in Year 7 and really shone as Princess Jasmine, giving a sensitive performance and singing beautifully, making her “A Whole New World” duet with Aladdin a real heartfelt highlight of the show. Aidan and Rory gave energetic and amusing performances, proving that they are a comedy double act in the making! Rory was a larger than life Genie with fantastic stage presence, and Aidan gave a confident, slick and convincing performance as the street rat Aladdin. The whole cast shone in the big musical numbers, with fantastic choreography from Miss Murphy, and great set design from the Year 9 BTEC Production students. Miss Booth, Head of Drama, said “I think this has been our best KS3 production yet, and has been an absolute joy to work on. The standard of the performances was really inspiring and I can’t wait to work with these students again on another production.”
It‘s been a really exciting year in the Performing Arts department as we were one of the first schools in the country to produce Billy Elliott earlier in the year, and we have also had several students making TV debuts this year! Aidan Greene, Ellie Sykes and Tom Fenlon all took part in CBBC’s Sam and Mark’s Big Friday Wind Up, which aired on BBC1, as a result of a CBBC casting workshop which took place in school.
We have also just cast our next senior musical which will be Grease, on from 28th November – 1st December, and our next Shakespeare School’s Festival performance, which is A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which will be performed at the Carriageworks Theatre on Friday 10th November.
