Music and the Arts
St John Fisher Catholic High School maintains that the Arts are central to the development of confident, enquiring and imaginativeyoung people who are aware of their cultural heritage and value the world in which they live.
The Keelan Arts Centre is always buzzing with exciting workshops and performances. We have excellent resources and a team of highly committed staff who work tirelessly to support all our students in the Arts. The faculty runs a wide range of clubs and ensembles, including wind bands, concert bands, jazz orchestras, School of Rock, string and percussion ensembles, urban funk, street dance, contemporary dance, boy-Zone and drama and dance groups for all year groups.

Students have regular opportunities to visit the theatre and attend concerts. Each year, we run a junior residential weekend as well as international visits to places such as Paris and Barcelona in the summer.
In Year 7, all of our students have the opportunity to achieve an Arts Award. Our annual Arts Festival is always well supported and celbrates the talents of the students. There are regular curriculum concerts and an extensive extracurricular programme.

We work with the wider community in pursuance of these aims through FishersArts and also by collaborating with other schools, community groups, professional artists and other Arts organisations to form creative partnerships. FishersArts provides an extensive programme of classes led by local Artists for the benefit of the local community and the students of our school.

Our unique ecumenical association with St Aidan’s Church of England High School enhances the Arts in our school. The Associated Sixth form has over 1100 students and provides an extensive range of GCEs and vocational courses in the Arts.
