YEAR 5 & 6 PRIMARY SCHOOL FOOTBALL FESTIVAL SUCCESS

On Tuesday 4th July, we were delighted to host our inaugural 6 a-side mixed Football Festival for our feeder primary schools on our new state of the art Astroturf at St John Fisher.

The festival consisted of approximately 100 Year 5 and 6 pupils from Barkston Ash, St Joseph’s (Wetherby), St Robert’s, St Wilfrid’s and St Edward’s Primary Schools.

It was an action packed day filled with fun, football and building friendships. The day was a huge success, enabling students to showcase their talents and enjoy a full day of competitive football. Each school embraced the competitive nature whilst encompassing the School Games’ values.

We were delighted to see our feeder primary schools come together to create a positive and enjoyable experience for all the young people at our inaugural football competition.

Barkston Ash ‘A’ team lifted the trophy, running out as winners of the competition after winning 8 out of their 9 games. It was a nail-biting finish with St Edward’s ‘A’ team pipping St Robert’s ‘A’ team to second place on goal difference, with both teams being only 2 points behind Barkston Ash.

Followed closely behind were St Joseph’s and then St Wilfrid’s, rounding up a successful festival full of passion, enjoyment, teamwork and talent!

Once again, our St John Fisher Sports Leaders put on an incredible display and made the competition a success. Their roles included being a referee, team leader, timekeeper, coach, results official and much, much more. They are a credit to themselves and St John Fisher as without them and their superb leadership skills and friendly manner, the festival would not have been possible.

Congratulations to everyone who took part!
