Pyrenean Evening of Music

Students from Years 7-13 performed in a concert last night as part of the fundraising effort for the Senior Music Tour to Luchon, Harrogate’s twin town. Students were joined by ten exchange students from Luchon school who are visiting Harrogate and the District this week. The concert featured the Junior and Senior Choirs along with performances from the Concert Band and Senior Jazz Orchestra. Also present was the town’s Mayor and honorary president of the towns twinning committee Nick Brown. Nick commented “I had no idea the standard of music making was so high at St. John Fisher School – I particularly enjoyed the fantastic vocalists”.

“The music department are exceptionally busy at the minute” said Craig Ratcliffe, Head of Music. “Following a hugely successful jazz evening 2 weeks ago and The Music for Youth Regional Festival at the weekend, all of the students are working really hard and producing some stunning performances”.

You can catch Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra in performance over the Easter weekend as part of the Harrogate International Youth Music Festival. They’ll be performing in the parade on Easter Saturday with the Jazz Orchestra playing on Sunday evening at the Jazz night. The sixth form saxophone choir are also supporting the opening private reception on Good Friday following another exchange meet up with the Chaminade School from New York.
