Shakespeare Schools Festival

We are proud to represent St John Fisher every year at the hugely successful Shakespeare Schools Festival.  Over 1000 schools participate every year, and perform a 30 minute version of a Shakespeare play in a regional theatre.   We have performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds, and it is a real highlight of the Drama calendar.  Though the event is non-competitive, we have an excellent reputation for producing high quality work, and the founder, Chris Grace, commented that our performance of Hamlet in 2013 was in the “top 5% in the country.”  We have regularly been invited back to re-perform our work and represent the Festival at national events.

Past productions include:

  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Much Ado About Nothing
  • Julius Caesar
  • Julius Caser – Performed again at Stratford-upon-Avon for a national  NATE conference
  • Hamlet
  • Hamlet – performed again at Warwick University for a national Pearson Conference
  • Twelfth Night

The current production is Comedy of Errors, which will be performed at the Carriageworks Theatre, in Leeds, on 7th November.  Tickets can be bought directly from the Carriageworks Theatre. This production is now cast, but look out for auditions in June 2016 for next year’s production.
