Subject: PE Department – Results and New Challenge
I hope you and your families are all well. We are really missing you! We miss teaching you, talking to you and seeing you have fun in PE with your friends. We also miss the energy, witty sense of humour and the endless laughter you bring to St John Fisher.
Most importantly, we hope that you are happy, healthy and are coping well during this difficult time. Hopefully, you have continued to be the bubbly, energetic, unique and amazing person you are!
As you know, the PE Department set the students, parents and staff at St John Fisher a challenge to complete as many kilometres as possible to see how far we can travel up and down the UK, with the main goal to achieve the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Incredibly, as a school community, in only 5 days you completed the 1406.5km distance!!
Firstly, we would like to thank you for your efforts and congratulate you on achieving this target in such a short time-frame.
We know how important exercise / sport is for both your mental and physical health, therefore, knowing that we have received over 200 entries in the last week from our school community brings us great happiness, as this shows us you are keeping active during this strange and difficult time. The results from the last week are attached. This shows you the statistics for your form, house and year group. The results have drastically changed in the last few days, so your results really do matter – every little helps and contributes towards your form, house, year group and overall totals. So why not get your friends and family involved?!
Now the competition continues …. and we are going global! We will be announcing a new and exciting challenge w/c 22 June with a target of covering 20,000km!! Your current distances and workouts which you have uploaded and continue to upload will all stand and will count towards this new challenge. Therefore, we ask that you continue to upload your workouts to the same link as before. Please keep uploading – the challenge is live now and the finer details will be announced on Monday! Remember: Parents, grandparents and siblings can all get involved as their workouts can be added under the Parents / Community category. Just a reminder that you have to log in via an email account linked to St John Fisher.
The most popular results uploaded have been from a:
– Bike ride
– Online workout such as Joe Wicks / Zumba
– Dog Walking
Make sure you record your distance by tracking your workout using a free app / health app on your phone. Some of the most common FREE apps are:
– Map my walk
– Map my run
– Nike run club
Just take a screenshot and upload it in question number 7 in microsoft forms. It’s much easier to fill in the form on a phone – if that is where your screeenshots are saved. Answer the questions and upload your picture every time you complete your exercise. Your efforts will go towards earning points for your house and a collective effort of reaching our landmark targets.

It would be great if you could tweet some of your photos from your walk / bike ride so everyone can see where you have been. It might encourage and inspire others to get involved too. If you would like us to post your photos on our PE Twitter page, please ask your parents to email them to email@example.com Your Parents must have provided consent for photos to be published on SJF social media on your annual consent form.
We would like to thank you all for the fantastic response to our challenges. We love to hear what you have been up to and it helps us stay connected even if you’re not in school. We hope you continue to participate in the challenge and we look forward to seeing the leaderboards. We will keep you updated with the leaderboards on our PE Twitter and a weekly round up via email. It’s not too late to get involved. You can vew the current standings below (correct as of midnight last night) or they are attached as a pdf.
Finally, it has been lovely to see that some people have been meeting up with their friends / peers and have gone out for socially distanced walks or bike rides and have then uploaded their results. It’s so important to check in on your friends / peers. If you can’t meet them, please just send them a message or give them a call. One little bit of kindess can change someone’s whole day / outlook. Remember, we are a Fisher’s family and we have to look out for one another, especially during difficult times like these!
