Natasha Abbott and Emily Jennings have raised £400 for the Children’s Cancer Unit crafts area at the LGI. Emily and Natasha organised the fundraising themselves and have had a team of Y9 bakers supporting them. The array of cakes was exceptional and they were available over three break times this week which were well supported by staff and students. Emily will be hand delivering the money raised to the unit. Congratulations to all who made and bought cakes.
Candlelighters Fund Raising
The school was delighted to welcome Gina from the Leeds based Candlelighters children’s charity. Mr Brockwell, Headteacher, presented a cheque for £1,025.00 at a Staff Briefing earlier this week. Mr Brockwell paid a warm tribute to a “fantastic effort” on the part of the school’s knitting team, led by Mrs Nicky Pollard, School Librarian, Mrs Denise Ball, from School Admin and Mrs Jackie Knight, captain of the staff team. Together they knitted hundreds of Easter bunnies, sold over the Easter period topped off by a Grand Easter Raffle. Well done to all.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Iris Wall in Year 9 has been chosen to be in the National Youth Theatre and will be training and performing with the company in London this summer. Iris has been chosen of one of 650 students from over 6000 who applied nationally, and is one of the youngest performers in the company. This is a phenomenal opportunity for Iris and we pass on our warmest congratulations! We will also be helping Iris fundraise for this opportunity and more details about this will follow.
