Running for CHUF!

On Sunday 6th June 2021, a group of staff from St. John Fisher completed the Coniston Fell Marathon in aid of the Childrens Heart Unit Fund. This charity is extremely close to the school, as one of our students, Amelia Annear, has shown the true meaning of being strong, positive and resilient.

After going twelve months with a deteriorating heart condition, culminating in a heart transplant in Dec 2020 at the Freeman's hospital, Amelia and her family went through unimaginable emotions, continuously supported by the incredible charity CHUF.

The 8 staff from St. John Fisher completed 26.2 miles each with around 4000ft of elevation along the way, aiming to replicate Amelia's journey and her ups and downs an undulating route.

Amelia commented "CHUF have supported my family and I over the few months I was in hospital, while awaiting my transplant, and after receiving my heart. I won't lie and say that the journey has been an easy one..... it hasn't, but without the support of CHUF I don't know how my family and I would have made it through this process”

The amazing team of Mr Brennan, Mr Pass, Mrs Riley, Mr Owen, Mr Rhodes, Mr Davis, Mr Bulcock and Mr Nightingale all completed the route, with donations totalling over £5300 on the JustGiving page.
